How My Journey Began

Maria Littleton, LMFT

I am a female Filipina American, born and raised in Southern California. I grew up in a small beachside community, raised by my Filipino American parents; who have a history of immigrating to the United States, and also serving in the United States Military. This has had a unique influence on my life. I am happily married to the love of my life, and we raise three children together.

As a child I always gravitated towards why people act the way they do. You could say it was an interest of mine. I liked watching people doing all sorts of things. How they played, talked to each other, what made them happy, sad, hurt. I was a natural sociologist or people watcher, learning all that I could from observing them. My natural interest in people also manifested into this ease with others as a great listener; hanging out with friends typically led to talking about deep topics. I had this big interest, but I didn’t know how it would become something to me.

When I started college I was fortunate enough to have a mentor and her advice would point me in the right direction. I asked her, “How do I know what classes to take? There are so many and I don’t even know what I want to be yet.” She told me, “just start by taking classes that interest you.” Years later, following this advice, led to more decisions based on following things that interested me; things I was curious about, things I wanted to know more about. And here I am today, turning my observations, experiences, and knowledge, into something that is helpful for others on their own journeys.

I am here to be of service to you on your journey and to listen to YOUR story.  I am here to guide you to unlock the doors that have hidden the secrets to releasing you from your pain and that which prevents you from experiencing true freedom in happiness and joy.  My practice focuses on holistic modalities and modern psychotherapy.
